Bespoke chairs and stools for food court
2023
Sonian was commissioned to create chairs and stools for the food court adjacent to the Mix hotel, a prestigious reconversion project of a former corporate headquarter. We have created chairs in solid beechwood designed by renowned artist Lionel Jadot. The name Inventaires hints at the backstory of this furniture piece, which was originally designed by Jadot in 1987 for French playwright Philippe Myniana. Mynaina asked Jadot to create a unique chair for a production of his theatre play “Inventaires” in which three women relay their lives on stage within a minimalist scenography.
Sonian also contributed bespoke stools to the food court. The design of the stools was a collaboration with Antwerp-based Studio Part and created with reclaimed horse chestnut wood that Sonian obtained from the Royal Parc in Brussels.
The Mix reconversion project has won two MIPIM awards in 2024, a prestigious prize for the most useful, sustainable and visionary real estate projects.
